The Problem

Unmet health and mental health needs can result in children falling behind developmentally and having trouble catching up physically, socially and academically. Poor children and children of color have worse access to health coverage and care and as a result often start life several steps behind their wealthier and healthier white peers.

Our Vision

To survive and thrive, all children need access to comprehensive health care.

CDF-MN supports:

  • protecting those gains,
  • expanding coverage to the remaining uninsured children,
  • keeping all children enrolled in coverage, and
  • ensuring timely access to appropriate care.

The Solution

Thanks in large part to Medical Assistance, the state’s federal Medicaid program, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and MinnesotaCare (a program that for 20 years has helped low-income working Minnesota families afford the cost of health care), the number of uninsured children in Minnesota today is at a historic low. We need your help to continue to support Medical Assistance and programs like it to keep our state’s children healthy and covered. Part of protecting Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare and other health care programs that benefit all Minnesotans is ensuring the Health Care Access Fund remains strong through the continuation of the provider tax that without legislative action is scheduled to sunset at the end of 2019.
